Common Questions
Buying carbon credits — answered plainly.
Every project on Carbon Atlas is certified under Verra VCS, Gold Standard, or other accredited international certifications. Each project page links directly to its registry entry so you can independently verify the project, its methodology, and its issued credit volumes. We don't list projects; we list verifiable, independently audited ones.
Your funds are held in escrow — you're not charged until credit delivery is confirmed. Once the credits are transferred and retired in the Verra registry under your name, escrow releases payment to the seller and you receive a retirement certificate with the Verra serial numbers. If delivery isn't confirmed within 60 days, you receive a full refund.
A 5% marketplace fee, shown clearly at checkout. No hidden charges, no spread on the credit price. The price you see per tCO₂e is the seller's price — our fee is added transparently on top at the time of purchase.
Buying puts the credit in your account. Retiring permanently cancels it in the Verra registry under your organisation's name — that's the step that creates the offset claim. You can buy credits now and retire them later (common for businesses building a portfolio), or retire immediately at checkout. Either way, once retired, the credit can never be resold or double-counted.
Yes. Verra VCS credits are widely accepted for voluntary ESG reporting, GHG Protocol disclosures, and SBTi supplementary claims. Many projects on Carbon Atlas are also CORSIA-eligible, which qualifies them for aviation compliance from 2027. After retirement, we provide a certificate and a full registry audit trail suitable for board-level reporting.
Contact us at support@carbonatlas.earth. We work directly with corporates, climate funds, and institutional buyers on forward purchase agreements and custom project sourcing. There's no minimum purchase on the marketplace; bulk pricing is available for orders over 10,000 tCO₂e.
About Carbon Atlas
Built by people who make things from land.
Carbon Atlas is a service of Panda Industries Inc. — a sustainable building materials company specialising in bamboo strand board manufacturing. We built Carbon Atlas because our own business sits at the intersection of land use, sustainability, and commercial markets. We know how hard it is for landowners and small developers to access carbon credit markets — broker-heavy, opaque, and designed for large enterprises. Carbon Atlas is our answer to that problem: direct access, verified projects, transparent fees, and payment that's protected until delivery is confirmed.
